A Post-Storm Update

Dear MBC Family,

I hope this message finds you well and in good spirits. With a heavy heart but also a hopeful outlook, I write to share an update on the recent impact of storms Debby, Helene, and Milton, which caused significant damage to our beloved Manasota Beach Club.

As many of you know, this year would have marked our 65th season, a milestone that brings with it a deep sense of pride and reflection on the legacy that my parents began all those years ago. I know how much this place means to each of you, just as it does to me and my family. It is more than a resort and club; it is a home away from home, a natural oasis, and a historic treasure.

The trifecta of these storms has left the property in a state of disrepair that will require considerable effort to restore. We have experienced the total loss of Sanderling and Lovebird. The 16-foot dune and 30 feet of vegetation and beachfront are gone, which has left the other beachfront cottages exposed on their foundations. The surf room was destroyed, and parts of the Clubhouse were filled with sand nearly to the door handles. However, interestingly, the Clubhouse and oldest cottages are still standing, having survived the best.

We are currently working closely with structural engineers, insurance adjusters, and contractors to fully assess the damage and develop a clear plan for restoration. The path ahead is still being developed, but our focus is currently on stabilizing the cottages and Clubhouse, restoring the dune, and building back bayside amenities. We are still awaiting a definitive timeline on all of these elements.

I want to be as transparent as possible—we face a complex recovery process, and we do not want to overpromise or set unrealistic expectations. However, with your continued support, I am confident the Manasota Beach Club property will continue in a more resilient and sustainable form.

Thank you again for your understanding, support, and commitment to the continued legacy of the Manasota Beach Club. Please expect further updates as we continue to make progress.

All my best,

Sydney “Buffy” Crampton
