Vintage Charm, Sea Breezes

Kick off your shoes; peace and comfort await you

At Manasota Beach Club, luxury lies in authenticity and simplicity. The entire property is listed on the National Register of Historic Places, and each room is uniquely charming, filled with original art, truly “Old Florida.” Larger groups or families often like to reserve an entire, multi-accommodation cottage to house the whole crowd.

Every room or cottage has a private outdoor seating area, a view of the Gulf or tropical forest, stacks of fluffy towels, quality coffee and tea, and good reads galore. Beach chairs and toys are at the ready.

Lovebird

2 Bedrooms 2 Baths Gulf View

Lovebird is a spacious, airy, stand-alone house on the southern end of the property. Two bedrooms and two bathrooms make Lovebird a great choice for couples traveling together or for a family with children. An open, wood-paneled great room with a full kitchen, and living and dining areas ends in wall-to-wall glass doors, which open in turn to a shady patio and steps leading straight to the beach.

Kingfisher Down

1 Bedroom 1 Bath Gulf View

Kingfisher Down is a mid-century delight; a one-bedroom retreat with a large, semi-shaded private deck facing the Gulf. A shipshape full kitchen looks through a retro 60’s open bar to the living and dining area. A couch pulls out into a comfy full bed, if desired. In the king bedroom, glass doors open to the deck and the gentle sea breeze.

Kingfisher North + South

1 Bedroom 1 Bath Gulf View

Kingfisher North and South are separate, lovely accommodations that share the top floor of the Kingfisher cottage. A large shaded deck stretches between them, facing the blue of the Gulf, separated by lush potted plants for privacy. Both North and South have an open, vaulted space that holds the sleeping, sitting, and kitchenette areas. Sliding glass doors topped with clerestory windows - a calling card of the Sarasota School of Architecture - let in the mellow Gulf light. Each room feels lofty and private, like a treetop escape.

Sandpiper

1 Bedroom 1 Bath Ocean View

Sandpiper is a sweet 1920’s clapboard cottage set between the Clubhouse and the Library; perfectly self-contained and private, it is a charming world unto itself. Its small screened porch is the place for morning coffee and a good book. Inside, a queen bed faces a tidy living area perfectly sized for two. Windows on three sides make this compact cottage light and airy; original wood floors add warmth.

Sanderling

1 Bedroom 2 Baths Gulf View

Sanderling is a private, modernist retreat with wide blue views of the Gulf. Palm-fringed windows look out in every direction.  Sanderling has one bedroom with 180-degree views and a private bathroom; there is a second full bathroom off of the living room. Sanderling’s vaulted ceilings, big shady porch, full kitchen, and bright dining area make it a “cloud nine” cottage and a favorite of honeymooners.

Blue Heron North + South

1 Bedroom 1 Bath Gulf View

Blue Heron is a simple, stylish mid-century cottage with two accommodations - North and South - and an expansive wood deck, right above the beach. Wood-paneled and spacious, with vaulted ceilings, Blue Heron North and Blue Heron South each have a king bedroom separated from an airy living area by a ¾ wall; light and air abound. The living area culminates in a long row of windows to the deck and Gulf. North has a galley kitchen; South has a breakfast nook with a coffee maker and microwave. Couples and small families will feel right at home here.

Pelican

1 Bedroom 1 Bath Forest View

Pelican is a fetching 1940’s stand-alone cottage set back under the spreading live oaks; like all Manasota Beach Club cottages, it is mere steps from the beach and the Clubhouse. A cathedral ceiling rises over a spacious bedroom and living area. In the sunroom, aproned with windows, a table for four offers a spot for private dining, or (if you must) …work.

Owl Up

2 Bedrooms 2 Baths Gulf View

Owl Up is a spacious two-bedroom retreat encompassing the whole top floor of Owl, with a long covered deck surveying the Gulf. Sliding glass doors in both the living room and the main bedroom open to the sea air, the stunning vista, and the tranquil wash of surf.  A second king bedroom (convertible to twin beds, if desired) is adjacent to the main; each bedroom has its own full bathroom. A generous vaulted living area and a full kitchen make Owl Up perfect for entertaining, and an ample retreat for a family, or two couples traveling together.

Owl Down

1 Bedroom 1 Bath Gulf View

The Owl cottage, designed by the Sarasota School of Architecture in 1975, has three accommodations on the lower level: Owl North, Owl South, and Owl Middle. These are simple, easy, comfortable quarters suitable for couples or individuals, looking out over the beach and water. North, South, and Middle all have a classic old Florida aesthetic: crisp white painted wood paneling, tiled bathrooms, small kitchenettes, and glass doors that open to private deck space and comfortable outdoor seating. The whole Owl cottage, taken as a single unit, can host a large family or group of friends.

Gull

1 Bedroom 1 Bath Gulf View

Gull holds four roomy accommodations, each a large one-bedroom, one-bath suite with an open living area, daybed and a small kitchenette.  Large, original wood-paneled walk-in closets offer ample space to unpack. Gull 1 and 2 have beautiful Gulf views. Gull 3 and 4 open to a large shared deck, and the shuffleboard and tennis courts.
