Connect with Nature

Mission and Values: A Letter from the Owner

When I walk through the oak canopy of the Manasota Beach Club, I hear the rustle of gopher tortoises looking for fallen hibiscus flowers and the cheerful calls of shorebirds. I also hear the murmur of conversations, as relaxed guests enjoy a cup of coffee on a deck overlooking the Gulf of Mexico, the pop of a tennis ball hitting a racquet, and the sound of children playing tag on the front lawn. This 11+ acre Gulf to Bay property on a residential Key in Southwest Florida is a place where the past and present meet. A slice of Old Florida that organically melds nature, history, and hospitality.

Each day that I come to work, I do so knowing that, by having a thriving, successful Manasota Beach Club, I can protect this special piece of land. I can encourage people to preserve nature by making the space for them to fall in love with it. I want to provide not only an amazing natural destination but to help reset a guest’s state of mind through great food, great company, and great fun.

We want to further MBC’s legacy as a community hub as well as a source of nature and historical education, in addition to embracing sustainable practices in the day-to-day operations. My family has been sharing this property with guests for almost 65 years and we look forward to joyfully continuing to do so for generations to come.

Manasota Key Conservancy and Land Trust

The Manasota Key Conservancy and Land Trust will work in conjunction with MBC to educate visitors, and plans to preserve and protect the property’s land and animals. Sydney “Buffy” Crampton has deep expertise in environmental stewardship and education. She grew up on the property, received a BS in Biology and Environmental Science Education from Beloit College, and has held positions at the Lemon Bay Conservancy, the Audubon Society, and the Englewood Water Board. Buffy is excited to expand educational opportunities for interested guests and community members on conservation and other environmental topics.
